Solidarity March for the 22-day Massacre

New Years Day, 2010

A protest march aimed at the general public in order to ensure that Gaza is NEVER forgotten. The march was firstly around the Zoo Lake which is a key spot for revelers on New Years day and then the procession traveled to Fordsburg Square, Mint Road (another area which is always bustling with activity) to set up a display showing graphic images taken from the 22-day massacre.

The turnout was great and exceeded expectations. It was a good event in terms of educating people about the dire situation in Gaza as well as the devastating statistics which emerged from that 22-day massacre. It was a wonderful feeling to be standing in solidarity with both the people of Gaza and Palestine, as has been across the world over the past couple of days.
